BRIGGS ACCORDIONS
lancashire

For a long time I’ve been fascinated with the method of finishing metal known as engine turning or jewelling. It’s the sort of finish found on the dashboards of old Bugatti motor cars or inside fine Swiss watches. Strictly speaking, proper engine turning is the sort of finish found on jewelry by Faberge and other high class makers and Chris Wilkes flutes.

On this accordion I took the opportunity to incorporate it into my instruments. This is a view of the inside of the accordion showing the engine turned and engraved plate on which the treble reed blocks sit.
